Muntada Aid recertified Zakah Eligible across three projectsView the certification

Not every charity that helps Muslims is a valid home for your zakah. Zakah has eight specific categories of recipient set by the Shari'ah, and whether a particular project qualifies turns on who ultimately receives the funds and how they are delivered — not on the cause being a worthy one.

Muntada Aid, a UK charity running health, food and livelihood programmes for communities in need, has had three of its projects recertified Zakah Eligible by the Islamic Finance Advisory: Little Hearts & Eye Cataracts, Feed the Forgotten, and its Livelihood Program.

What was reviewed

Each project was reviewed in full against IFA's published Zakah Policy and Standards & Procedures for Zakah Certification, alongside the established rules of zakah in Islamic jurisprudence — examining how funds are collected, held and disbursed, and whether the recipients fall within the categories entitled to receive zakah. Each project is certified on its own terms, and the certification remains valid subject to review.

A certification that is renewed, not assumed

Muntada Aid has held IFA zakah certification since 2023, and this recertification follows a fresh review for the year ahead. Certification is not granted once and left to stand: it is renewed only after each project is examined again, so a charity's continued place on the register reflects a current judgement rather than a historic one.

Why it matters for your zakah

For a donor, the certification settles the question that matters most: zakah given to these projects reaches people who genuinely qualify to receive it, so the obligation is discharged with confidence. Each project's certificate and letter can be verified any time on IFA's Certification Register, and every certificate carries a code that opens its entry the moment it is scanned.

Certified, and open to check

Every IFA certification is published on a register anyone can verify — or get your own product or charity certified.
