Terms

The terms for using this website, and who we are.

Last updated: October 2026

These terms apply when you use ifadvisory.org. By using the site, you accept them. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy.

Who we are

Islamic Finance Advisory (IFA) is part of the Islamic Council and is run by Islamic Council of Europe Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (no. 10408363). Registered office: 2 Frederick Street, Kings Cross, London WC1X 0ND.

  • Address: 3rd Floor, Muslim Centre, 46 Whitechapel Road, London E1 1EJ

Our guidance is general, not personal advice

The research, articles, guidance and answers published on this site are general information about Islamic finance. They are not a ruling on your own situation, and they are not financial, investment, legal or tax advice.

For guidance on your own circumstances, book a case: a qualified scholar takes it, and the Panel of Scholars reviews every case.

IFA is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. When we review an investment, a product or a portfolio, we give a view on whether it is Shari'ah-compliant. We do not recommend buying, selling, holding or switching any particular investment, and our view is not a judgement of its financial merits or of whether it suits you.

Booking a case

Cases and certification enquiries are booked and paid for through the Islamic Council's booking portal (my.islamiccouncil.com). Prices on this site include VAT and show where fees start; the exact fee is confirmed on the portal before you commit to anything.

If you book as an individual, you can cancel within 14 days of booking. If you ask us to start work within those 14 days and then cancel, you pay only for the work already done.

Using our research and publications

The articles, publications and other material on this site are ours, or published with the permission of their authors, and are protected by copyright.

You are welcome to read, download and share them for personal, educational or other non-commercial use, as long as you credit IFA and link back to the original. Please don't change them, sell them or present them as your own. For anything else, ask us first.

The certification register

The register shows the status of each certification as at the date shown. A certification covers only the products, projects or activities named on its certificate, for the period shown on it, and is not a judgement of anything else the organisation does.

To check a certificate, use the register or scan the code printed on the certificate itself.

Certification seals and the IFA name

IFA's certification seals and badges, and the IFA name and logo, may be used only by organisations we have certified, and then only:

  • for the products, projects or activities that are certified;
  • while the certification is active; and
  • in the form we supply, without changes.

When a certification expires or is withdrawn, its seal must come down. Using our seals, name or logo in any other way, or in a way that suggests a certification that doesn't exist, is not allowed. If you see a seal you think is being misused, please tell us.

This site links to other websites, including the booking portal, IFA Education and the organisations on our register. We are not responsible for their content or for how they handle your information.

Our responsibility to you

We work hard to keep this site accurate and available, but we can't promise it will always be complete, up to date or uninterrupted. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for loss that comes from relying on the general information on this site.

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that the law does not allow us to limit, or affects your rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new date.

The law that applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales deal with any dispute about them.
